Travellers

"Dead Birds" (1963) is Robert Gardner's landmark ethnographic documentary following the Dani people of Papua New Guinea. Through black-and-white footage, it captures their ritualized warfare and daily life, taking its title from a Dani myth equating human mortality with birds. I was inspired by this film to explore travel, mythology and war. I used stencils to replicate figures over and over, studying how they interacted with one another.
